City Love:
For Singer/Songwriter Adria Kain, the journey began at the mere age of five when her mother, whom she credits for her vocal talent, couldn’t help but notice her child’s strange yet well developed sense of sound. While practicing to the harmonies of Whitney Houston & Aaliyah, she could hear background noise, not coming from the music itself, but from the child she raised. By the time Adria reached the age of 9, it was safe to say the young artist had taught herself to sing.
Throughout high school & college, Adria made her talents known by performing at talent shows, plays, even volunteering at local events. These events allowed her to network with other artists, producers & labels.
She gained herself a Performance Arts award just shy of her graduation, thus helping to further bolster her confidence level.
Adria, often states that her writing was an accidental journey, fuelled by an argument she had with her mother. She recalls running to her room and capturing all her emotions that she had about the argument as well as thoughts and feelings she’d had over the years – poems, verses, quotes, anything she felt she needed to exhale about. Since then she has started writing for local artist and hopes to do so for many more.
Now at the age of 23, the Toronto native, who has collaborated with fellow Toronto artists she is ready to go full steam head towards realizing her passion. Now on the verge releasing her CD, the highly anticipated EP“Identity,”Adria says ““It’s all sort of surreal to me how this is all happening, my major goal in life was to become this big basketball player & to be the first lady in the NBA (laughs), so for that to just disappear and suddenly become…I want to be a singer, it’s amazing how things can really turn out”
